Museum of Modern Art...

One of the best things about visiting New York is the museums and I was really looking forward to visiting MoMa which was a short walk from our hotel. I had never been before and was glad to find that the building itself is a huge piece of art with its vast open spaces and gorgeous court yard. I could have spent the whole day there wandering about, taking it all in...it's definitely a place to get lost.

My favourite exhibit (besides the Van Gogh and Picasso displays) was the James Rosenquist installation which took up a whole room and was installed in twenty three sections (see the second last photo above). I really wanted to tell all the other museum patrons to get out so that I could stand in a corner and stare for a while to see all of its intricacies...do you think that would have been rude or selfish?

I definitely need to return to this museum in the future and spend a whole day going through it slowly, patiently...

New York City..

One of my closest friends is getting married this summer and to celebrate her upcoming nuptials we went on a trip to New York! We surprised her with the trip last Thursday night and then set out for one busy but amazingly fun weekend. As you can imagine I have a lot of photos from the trip so I thought I'd share a few...
I have only been to New York one other time (eleven years ago) and find the city so chaotic yet so beautiful and inspiring. It never stops moving and if you sit still for just a few moments to take it all in you can feel the pulse of the city coursing through your veins...it becomes a part of you...something that is hard to forget.

Anyway, I ended up with a lot of touristy photos instead of the artsy kind I was hoping for but I guess that means that I'll just have to go back again soon strictly for a photo excursion. This trip wasn't about photos anyway...it was about celebration and spending time with the women I love!

Hope you're having a great Wednesday!

Insta-prints on a Thursday...

On monday I went out and bought myself a little something...well it's actually kind of big. I finally picked up a Fujifilm Instax 210 and it is possibly the best thing I have bought...ever! I have been craving an insta-print camera for a long long time, hesitating in antique shops over old Polaroid cameras trying to convince myself that I don't need one, that I'm not meant to have one, that I...I shouldn't...

When I first broke this bad boy out of its box I was blown away immediately! It is HUGE! No seriously, it is gargantuan...which is obviously something I wasn't expecting and I realize that I should have been expecting it considering this thing prints a four inch by three inch picture! I debated between this one and the mini which prints a credit card sized photo and I'm glad that in the end I chose this one!

As you can see we are getting along well. I took these shots today and now all I want to do is release a shutter and wait for an image to magically appear from the great white abyss! To say I'm addicted to this thing is a HUGE understatement! I would say it was money well spent!

I ran out of light to photograph my new beast of a camera but I will show you all of its glory tomorrow...until then here's a photo of someone holding the same cam....now do you get it? And of course Lindsay also has one that she uses to hide from the paparazzi...it's OBVIOUSLY working.

Photos by me (and The Beast)....if you're reading this post a second time you may notice I deleted the chunk where I tell you about naming this camera...I hate the name we initially settled on....a new name is in the works...although I like "The Beast"
